The Mystery of the Water Bottle

by Kevin P. Gramlich

Chapter 1: Pep the Cat's Water Bottle

Pep had a water bottle.

Eng came. She looked at the water bottle.

That night Hector and Pep heard some sounds downstairs.

Pep and Hector got up. The water bottle was gone.

"Hector!" Pep said, "find my water bottle please."

Hector only had one clue -- some sounds downstairs. Eng's hole was downstairs.

Hector saw another clue -- footprints. They lead from the water bottle to Eng's hole.

Eng said that the footprints passed right through her hole; so Eng hadn't done it.

Chapter 2: Following Footprint at 11:00am

Hector followed the footprints everywhere.

Hector talked to Uwo, Eng's cousin. "Eng had nothing with her when I saw her", said Uwo.

Hector had not clue now. He looked everywhere. Everywhere Hector went, there was nothing to be seen. Until Hector found another clue -- a bottle cap.

Pep had painted it pink and that one was pink.

Eng didn't do anything still.

Hector even looked into here hole. There was not a clue to be seen.

Hector thought "its bottle cap had been on the ground." Hector went back to it.

Chapter 3: Looking Again

Hector looked everywhere for the pink bottle cap. All he saw was a yellow one. Hector saw a dot of pink on it.

Hector took it leaving a spot of where it had been.

Hector looked in Eng's hole again. This time he found a clue -- a hole in house leading underground in the dirt. Pep's bottle cap had been in the dirt too. Hector was starting to get on the track. Hector knew what he could do.

Chapter 4: Digging Along the Trail

Hector had made an X where he had seen the bottle cap. He dug along this little trail of a hole. It went everywhere. Hector kept digging. All of the sudden he saw another clue -- Eng. She was crawling through the trail. Pep followed Eng all through the trail where she crawled. Eng didn't see Hector. The trail stoppped where the bottle cap had been. Hector, of course, had a clue from Eng. Hector quickly went to his chair and was about to think.

Chapter 5: What is Hector Thinking About?

Hector was trying to think of a way Eng may have stolen the cap. Hector thought for a long time. Finally, he had it. Maybe Eng had hidden the water bottle in the trail. Maybe that was what happened. Hector came up with some other ideas. Maybe Eng had thrown the water bottle away and had kept the cap and put it in the ground. Hector wasn't sure. All the sudden he noticed there was an X at the end of the trail. Hector looked at himself in the mirror for a second. Then he thought more but he only had one more idea of what may of happened. Eng may have just hidden the bottle cap in one spot and the water bottle in the other direction. Only how far would that be? So thay may not work. Hector still needed to think. But all of the sudden before he could even think, Hector noticed that he may of come up with something.

Chapter 6: That Hector!

Hector now kept thinking trying to come up with ideas. Hector, of course now, knew there was only one thing to do. Hector was on the trail! He ran along the underground trail Eng had made. But the X was gone when he came to the end. All there were was rockes in its spot. Hector went home to think about what he had seen. The rocks hab all been put together in a big square. He had looked at all of the rockes carefully. All of the sudden Pep came into the room. "Have you found my water bottle?" he asked. "Not yet" said Hector, "but I'm working on it." "Hector, find it as soon as you can please. You have only one day and one hour to get on the trail and find it". Hector got out of his chair and started running for the door. "Hector!", Pep yelled, "I was only kidding!"

Chapter 7: The Running Hector with the Running Ideas Above Him

Hector kept running. "Hey!" Pep yelled "I was only kidding!" Hector ran faster and faster. He saw the square of rocks again. This time he studied them more carefully. Hector slowly took the rocks off one by one. Hector was onto something. Hector kept doing it. There were actually layers of rocks. Hector worked for one hour trying ti figure out how far down underground the rocks would go. All of the sudden, Hector grabbed something -- the last rock. Hector saw an X out of rocks. Hector had gotten a clue from that. Then he noticed something that was such a big idea, this idea nearly had to go to the next chapter of the book.

Chapter 8: Finishing Up Hector's Idea

Hector, of course, knew what to do. He took the X rocks down and saw the X that was originally ther. Hector of course now knew what tod od. Hector a mini-sized spade and started digging. All of the sudden, Hector found the water bottle! Yippee! Hahray! Now for Hector's chance. Hector, of course, saw a stream near him. With the spade, Hector dug until the stream was going down the pathway he had dug with his spade. Then he connected it to Eng's trail. The water was going down fast. Hector had to Eng a bottle cap to plug in the hole so that the pipe would explode. Hector plugged it in for her. Then he watched the water come down Eng's trail. THen it went into hole and hit the bottle cap. All of the sudden, part of the pipe buldged out. Then it exploded! It washed Eng out and everything. What a wet suprise Hector had given Eng. Eng just looked at Hector, "How could you? How could you?" she yelled.

Chapter 9: Wash Out Trails and Water Running

Eng had water coming in her hole for a week. It had washed out her trails and Eng couldn't sneak anywhere again. Espescially, when Hector always had a trickling suprise for Eng. Afterwards, when the stream nearly ran out of water, Eng cleaned her whole house out. But there was just one suprise left. More water! Hector had attached the hose to Eng's trail. Hector was able to close up the doors and the water came in. Well, Eng just simply kept doing just all sorts of things. Hector opened the doors and a river popped out of the doors. Eng, of course, swam anytime she wanted but always had to avoid doing this again.

Chapter 10: Engified

Eng, of course, had learned her lesson. Well, the other thing Eng had learned was never, ever, to hide someone else's things again. But Eng, of couse, always knew when she had to do something to Pep. Well anyway, Eng all the sudden noticed that she felt much better than before. But of course, Hector had almost flooded all of Eng's town. And well anyway, Hector always knen when it was a good time to give Eng a good wash down. Well, anyway, Eng knew now that Hector was always waiting to suprise her.

Chapter 11: Ooops

Eng, of course, knew when it was time to open up her doww. but when she did once, oops, she see China!

The End
